My efforts in making this film will be directed towards honoring her legacy and make her proud, and it’s my privilege to see to it on her behalf,” the film’s director Joel Souza said in a statement sent to the Hollywood Reporter.

The producers of “Rust” quoted by the magazine also announced that a documentary film dedicated to the life and work of the tragically deceased operator will be made. Alec Baldwin facing charges

Last fall, CNN reported that Alec Baldwin reached a settlement with the family of the shot operator. Under the agreement, work on the film was to resume in January. However, on January 19, New Mexico prosecutors announced that Baldwin would be charged with involuntary manslaughter. Less than two weeks later, the actor was charged. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was responsible for the safe use of weapons on the set, is also accused.

According to the New York Times, if the case goes to trial and the jury finds one of the defendants guilty, they could face prison terms of between 18 months and five years.

On Thursday, February 9, a lawsuit was also filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in which Halyna Hutchins’ Ukrainian family, her parents and sister, are suing Baldwin. A lawyer for the Hutchins relatives said they “heard nothing from Alec Baldwin, the man with the gun,” as she described him. According to the civil lawsuit, the defendants – Alec Baldwin and others involved in the production of the western “Rust” – intentionally caused emotional damage. The document also talks about neglect and the loss of a loved one as a result of Hutchins’ untimely death.
