The Prime Minister introduced the BRAVO and BRAVO-CRP alert levels, which are to remain in force until May 31, 2024, the Government Center for Security (RCB) announced on social media. As we read in the statement, “they are a signal for public services and administration to be particularly vigilant.”

In November, the then head of government Mateusz Morawiecki signed orders that extended the validity of the alert levels: BRAVO second level and CHARLIE-CRP third level until February 28, 2024 throughout the country.

In accordance with the decision of the Prime Minister Donald Tusk BRAVO and BRAVO-CRP alert levels are currently in force. The latter is related to the threat of a terrorist event affecting the ICT systems of public administration bodies or ICT systems included in critical infrastructure.

Alert level BRAVO (second on a four-point scale) is introduced in the event of an increased and foreseeable threat of a terrorist event. This means that the services have information about a potential threat, and therefore the public administration is obliged to be particularly vigilant.

BRAVO-CRP means that, among other things, increased monitoring of the security of ICT systems of public administration bodies should be introduced.

“In addition, it is necessary to ensure the availability of personnel responsible for system security in an emergency mode and to introduce 24-hour duties of administrators of systems key to the functioning of the organization and personnel authorized to make decisions on the security of ICT systems,” says RCB.

Signal for services

Alert levels – as RCB points out – “are a signal for public services and administration to be particularly vigilant.”

In the case of the BRAVO rank, the tasks of the services include, among others: increased control of large groups of people, public utility facilities and other facilities that may become the target of terrorist attacks. Uniformed officers and soldiers securing places that may become a target are required to carry long weapons and bulletproof vests. The administration’s tasks include, among others: introducing bans on unauthorized persons entering kindergartens, schools and universities.

Alert levels are introduced, changed and revoked, by way of an order, by the Prime Minister (Prime Minister), after seeking the opinion of the minister responsible for internal affairs and the head of the Internal Security Agency, and in urgent cases – by the minister responsible for internal affairs, after seeking the opinion of the head of the Internal Security Agency, informing about the Prime Minister immediately.
