The wife of the late Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny, Yulia Navalny, thanked the thousands of Russians who queued for hours to visit her husband’s grave in a Moscow cemetery. “This is true people’s love,” she wrote on social media.

“Many people wonder why Alexei fought so hard and never gave up. For your sake. For the beautiful, brave and honest people who are now standing in an endless queue to say goodbye to him,” she wrote Yulia Navalnaya on social media on Monday.

“Thank you. This is true love from people,” she added.

For several days, many people have been lining up to lay flowers on the grave of the anti-Kremlin opposition leader Alexei Navalny at the Borisov Cemetery in Moscow. The stack of bouquets was one meter high.

The funeral of a Russian oppositionist and one of the most vocal critics Vladimir Putin took place on Friday. The police did not allow thousands of people who wanted to say goodbye to him to attend the service. People chanted his name and slogans: “We are not afraid”, “Russia will be free”. His caravans were showered with flowers on the way to the cemetery.
