Allegro. Scammers impersonate the platform – emails suggesting to receive extra money

Naukowa i Akademicka Sieć Komputerowa (NASK) warned against scammers impersonating Allegro and phishing data to the portal. These are e-mails suggesting receiving additional money from the platform.

NASK’s CSIRT (Computer Security Incident Response Team) informed that it was monitoring a campaign in which fraudsters impersonated the Allegro platform.

“This time, as part of the campaign, e-mails are sent suggesting receiving additional money from the platform. The alleged bonus can be obtained if the user takes action within 72 hours of receiving the message,” NASK said.

She added that the content of the e-mail contains a link redirecting to a fake website used to phishing login details to the Allegro portal.

Advance warnings against scammers

On Tuesday, the cybersecurity team at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF CSIRT) warned against fake text messages – scammers impersonating DHL.

CSIRT KNF has also recently informed about fake ads posted on social media. As it was pointed out, when publishing fake investment advertisements, cybercriminals use images of well-known institutions.

“In April alone, we reported 367 fake ads and 1,409 dangerous domains related to this scam,” it said. As added, the image was used in them, among others: PGNiG (26%) Baltic Pipe (30%), Tesla (11%), banks (3%) and other state-owned companies (4%).

In April, NASK also warned against fraudsters impersonating Allegro. Then it was about e-mails suggesting receiving a loyalty bonus from the website.
