– I am sad that we have led our country to such a situation – said Minister of Justice and Attorney General Adam Bodnar in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. He referred to the case of former deputy minister of justice Marcin Romanowski, who is wanted on an arrest warrant.
Former Deputy Minister of Justice and currently PiS MP Marcin Romanowski has been wanted on an arrest warrant since Thursday. The District Court for Warsaw-Mokotów decided on a three-month arrest for the former deputy minister, a suspect in the investigation regarding the Justice Fund. Since last Tuesday, the police have been searching the addresses where he could be staying in order to arrest the deputy. The prosecutor's office said that the PiS MP has not logged in to the Internet since December 6 and does not use any number registered with his personal data.
Romanowski's defense attorney, Bartosz Lewandowski, announced on Monday that he had filed a complaint against the court's decision regarding the three-month arrest of the PiS MP.
Bodnar: what should Marshal Hołownia do in this situation?
When asked about this case on Monday in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24, the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar he admitted that he wondered if he could “comment on it in some way, more harshly.” – I was even encouraged somewhere to make an appeal for Mr. Romanowski to simply hand himself over to the justice system – he added.
– But what occurred to me is that I am simply sad, as a minister, as a citizen, that we have a person who performed a very serious function, and a year after taking over the government we are at a stage where we have to wonder where he (Romanowski – ed.) is, where he is, where he escaped, where the courts decided to apply temporary arrest to the former deputy minister – he described.
– What's more, I started wondering about one thing: I checked the regulations. What should the marshal do?Szymon) HoÅ‚ownia in this situation? Can he, in this situation, assume that Mr. Marcin Romanowski is still an MP? And how can he perform his duties if he is hiding? It turns out that there is no regulation on this subject at all, because no one predicted such a situation – said the minister.
He admitted that he was “sad from the point of view that we have led our country to this situation.”
When asked if he knew where Romanowski was hiding, he replied that he had no such knowledge.
The minister was also asked whether the European Arrest Warrant for Romanowski was ready. – From what I know, the police had various suspicions about various locations and, of course, carried out a thorough check whether the person was staying in these locations. If she had been there, she would have been detained. This did not happen, so this area of exploration will probably have to be extended to European countries – he replied.
Bodnar on the case of Jacek Kurski's son
Bodnar also referred to the investigation into the son of former TVP president Jacek Kurski, Zdzisław.
Last Tuesday, at the beginning of the Prime Minister's meeting Donald Tusk asked Bodnar to provide information on “how the National Prosecutor's Office will pursue justice against people who were supposed to have uncovered” a case related to sexual violence allegedly committed by Kurski's son against a nine-year-old girl. The prosecutor's office in GdaÅ„sk discontinued the proceedings twice.

– I actually presented such information at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, in accordance with the Prime Minister's commitment. I presented the entire course of the procedure in this case (…), the case was discontinued twice, Bodnar reported.
As he said, he had read a several dozen-page note prepared by prosecutor Katarzyna Kwiatkowska, in whom he had “absolute trust”.
– I have no doubt that these discontinuance decisions did not make sense and did not take into account all the evidence that was discontinued in this case. But there is one more interesting thing: Mrs. Magda N., when she became an adult and filed a report herself, the prosecutor's office also refused to let her know, saying that we had previously discontinued the case. So, you can say that for the third time, after the attempt was made, this case was also discontinued – noted the minister.
He said that “an investigation has been initiated again and is being conducted by the District Prosecutor's Office in ToruÅ„.”
– The second issue is the responsibility of two prosecutors who discontinued these proceedings, and in this respect the investigation is being conducted by the District Prosecutor's Office in PoznaÅ„, after prior notification from the Internal Affairs Office (Department) of the Prosecutor's Office – he added.
On Monday, Jacek Kurski's son issued a statement in which he assured that he was innocent and wrote about a “public lynching by the Prime Minister.” He announced a private indictment against Donald Tusk and a lawsuit against TVP.
