Soldiers of the Ukrainian National Guard destroyed the Russian Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on Saturday. He added that the value of such equipment reaches $10 million.

“The system was destroyed by drone operators of the 27th Pechersk Brigade of the National Guard,” Ihor Klymenko said in a post on Telegram on Saturday. “The launcher, which the Russians hid in the forest, was revealed during a reconnaissance flight on one of the hottest sections of the front,” added the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“The precision strike completely destroyed the enemy equipment. The cost of such a complex reaches up to $10 million,” Klymenko said.

Shooting down a Malaysian Boeing

In July 2014, a missile fired from a Buk-M1 launcher hit Malaysian Boeing flight MH17. The plane was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur and ended up over territory controlled by pro-Russian separatists in Donbass. 298 people on board died.

According to the findings of investigators from Netherlandsthe Buk-M1 missile system from which one missile was fired came from Russia.
