An important section of the S7 expressway has been opened. From Krakow to Warsaw even faster

On Monday, August 26, a more than 5-kilometer section was opened expressway S7 between Miechów and Szczepanowice. The section connected the already functioning sections (Moczydło – Miechów and Szczepanowice – Widoma), thanks to which drivers have at their disposal almost 260 km of uninterrupted expressway to Warsaw from the village of Widoma north of Krakow – provided by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA).

An important section of the S7 road has been opened

The S7 Miechów – Szczepanowice section connects with the northern bypass of the city and allows to bypass it from the east. The route connects two existing sections: the northern one from border Świętokrzyskie and Małopolskie voivodeships (18.7 km, opened in September 2023) and southern towards the Widoma junction (13.1 km, opened in October 2021). The section is executed by the consortium of Fabe Polska (leader) and Sp Sine Midas Stroy. The value of the works is PLN 197.3 million.

GDDKiA announces that the S7 expressway will ultimately measure about 750 km and will be one of the longest (after S8) expressways in Poland. It is also part of the European E77 route, which connects the Tri-City ports with Slovakia and Hungary. South of Poland, the route runs through Ruzomberok and Zvolen to Budapest.

The S7 expressway will be extended

Sections near Warsaw (Płońsk – Kiełpin) and Kraków (Widoma – New Steelworks). “We are getting close to signing a contract for the development of a construction project for Kiełpiny – Warsawand for the Kraków – Myślenice section we are developing possible variants of the road route,” GDDKiA emphasizes.

The route will connect the three main urban centers of the country, the Tri-City, Warsaw and Krakow. It will provide a quick journey to popular tourist destinations – Baltic beaches, northern lake districts and the Carpathian ranges. Thanks to the S7, the journey from Krakow to Gdansk will take less than 6 hours.
