The parliamentary arithmetic is clear. I would simply expect the president to come to a logical conclusion that Prime Minister Donald Tusk should become the head of the government as soon as possible, said Cezary Tomczyk from the Civic Coalition. The president – as informed by the head of his cabinet – “has decided on the first step.”

The head of the president’s office, Marcin Mastalerek, announced that “after consultations and deep consideration, President Andrzej Duda has already decided on the so-called first step”, i.e. entrusting the mission of forming a government. He added that the decision was final and informed that the president would deliver a speech in the evening.

Tomczyk: I just expect a logical conclusion

Cezary Tomczyk from the Civic Coalition said that he “does not know what we will hear from the president”, but “he knows what we should hear”. – The parliamentary arithmetic is clear – 248 seats belong to the opposition, 194 to PIS– uh, so I would just expect a logical conclusion from the president. The conclusion is that the prime minister should become the head of the government as soon as possible Donald Tusk and get on with the job, because this is social expectation – he emphasized.

– I remember the president Andrzej Duda, who very often referred to the sovereign, referred to the nation and the decisions of citizens. This decision is clear – almost 12 million people in Poland voted for the opposition, and soon for the government coalition. The sooner we can all start working as a parliamentary majority, the better, he said.

Kierwiński: the president creates a puzzle out of a natural issue

Marcin Kierwiński, secretary general of PO, said in an interview with Radio Zet that the president “is creating a big puzzle out of a quite natural issue resulting from a simple parliamentary procedure.” – It’s good that the president sped up this decision. I hope that the decision will be based on the rules of mathematics – that 248 is more than 194 – he said. When asked what would happen if the current prime minister was given the mission to form a government by the president Mateusz MorawieckiKierwiński estimated that “this mission will end in 14 days at most.” – This is the deadline for delivering an expose and obtaining a vote of confidence, and Morawiecki will not receive such a vote in the new parliament – he added.
