The 54th World Economic Forum in Davos began on Monday. The organizers admit that the geopolitical context of the forum is more difficult today than ever before. This year’s WEO is under the slogan “rebuilding trust”, which is to take place on three levels: trust in the future, within societies and between nations. The main topics of the meeting will be ways to end the wars in the Gaza Strip and Ukraine.
President Duda on Kamiński and Wąsik’s “determination and devotion to Poland”.
President Andrzej Duda referred to Mariusz Kamiński’s “determination and devotion to Poland”. Maciej Wąsik, who “started the fight against corruption in Poland.” – We know that there were many places and institutions in our country where it was difficult to arrange anything without the so-called envelope. Thanks to the determination, integrity and extraordinary devotion to Poland, primarily of Minister Mariusz Kamiński, but also of his collaborators, including Minister Maciej Wąsik, the Central Anticorruption Bureau and the fight against corruption has decisively begun, said the president.
One of the journalists asked whether the president was asked about the situation in the country at the forum. – If I am asked about this, and indeed the situation in Poland today raises many questions, I talk about our situation – that the electionsthat these elections absolutely confirmed the excellent state of democracy in Poland, that there was a great turnout and as a result of these elections, which were considered absolutely correctly conducted by the Polish Supreme Court, there was a change of power in Poland – he said.
Duda: the new government has violated the constitution
– Unfortunately, today we are dealing with a situation in which the new government has already committed a number of constitutional violations over recent weeks, including the takeover of public media, which is a violation of the law – even a flagrant one – the courts said. And recently, bypassing the procedure defined by law, in complete violation of the law and, in fact, also in violation of the constitution, there is an attempt to take over one of the most important state institutions, which is the prosecutor, he said.
– If I am asked about it, and they ask me about these issues, because we do not live in a vacuum, we are not a country that would be some tiny dot on the map of Europe. We are a large European country, the leaders of other countries are interested in our affairs and ask me about this issue. If they ask me about this issue, I answer these questions.
