Andrzej Duda Prime Minister? President about the political future

President Andrzej Duda was asked on Radio Wnet about his plans after the end of the presidency (i.e. after August 6). As for possible political activity, Duda set one condition.

Andrzej Duda He declared that if after the end of the presidency there is a function that he could perform, he would “seriously consider taking her.” As far as – he reserved – he will not violate the dignity of the office of the President of the Republic of Poland.

Duda spoke on the radio on Wednesday that what function he would take care would depend on “what will be political needs and social glances”.

When asked if the prime minister's function violates the dignity of this office, the president reminded that after the end of his second term Aleksander Kwasniewski “He was presented by the left as a prime minister's candidate.” As he noted, “no one questioned it at the time” whether it would be a suitable function for the former head of the state.

Duda emphasized that the position of head of government is “the most important executive function in the state.” At the same time – he pointed out – the prime minister has the most tasks to perform and most competences among all possible functions in the state, which is why “this is not a violation of the dignity of” the Presidential Office.

A bigger problem would be to act as the Speaker of the Sejm. He would have to become an MP.

– This means participation in parliamentary elections in a district and a fight on the electoral list – said Andrzej Duda. He estimated that “for the former president who won the election at the national level, he does not face to compete in a campaign battle in the constituency.”
