The prosecutor's office has discontinued the investigation into the arrest of Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik in the Presidential Palace. They took refuge with Andrzej Duda so as not to end up in prison. The president allegedly anticipated the possibility of the police entering the Palace and forbade his associates from resisting.
As reported by “Rzeczpospolita”, the prosecutor's office has discontinued the investigation into the arrest of PiS politicians in the Presidential Palace. The president's residence is not protected by any immunity. For the police, it is a place like any other. However, the president's officials sounded the alarm.
– It was a police intrusion into the residence of the head of state – said Grażyna Ignaczak-Bandych, then head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, on 9 January. She later testified at the prosecutor's office that the president, before leaving for a meeting at Belweder, told her not to resist or obstruct the activities if the police arrived at the Palace. It is therefore difficult to speak of surprise.
The offended president
It is easier to say that Andrzej Duda feels offended, although he expected the police to intervene. He did not take part in this year's central celebrations of Police Day (July 24). In previous years, he took part. A week later, when he presented generals' nominations to police officers in the Presidential Palace, he spoke about corruption that existed in the police.
– They were led out of the Palace. The president really made a fool of himself, to put it mildly. Well, too bad. He has to come to terms with it. However, he should not be offended by the army, police, uniformed services, because today thanks to them we feel safe. No president has ever been offended or behaved like a child before – commented Dariusz Joński, MEP of the Civic Coalition.

– The president decided that he would not be at these celebrations. Why has Donald Tusk not been there during the last eight years? – asked Marcin Mastalerek, head of the Presidential Cabinet, on TVN24. This year, Donald Tusk, as prime minister, took part in the central celebrations of Police Day.
Also in PiS it is said unofficially that the president decided to signal to the police that he feels offended for the detention of legally convicted politicians. Andrzej Duda recognizes Mariusz Kamiński as a symbol of the fight against corruption.
