Andrzej Perepeczko is dead. The sailor, writer and publicist died at the age of 93. “A unique man with a Renaissance biography” – the Naval Museum in Gdynia described Perepeczka when announcing his death.
Information about the death of Andrzej Perepczka was announced on Thursday on social media by the Naval Museum in Gdynia. As it was written, Perepeczko was “a ship’s engineering officer of the 1st class, an educator of naval personnel, a writer, and an institution.” It was emphasized that “he went through all levels of his maritime career – from stoker to senior mechanic.” “Subject to a swimming ban, he served as a miner in a labor battalion. A long-time lecturer at the Maritime School, dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, professor at the Military Medical School. Author of hundreds of professional and popular science publications and books for young people. Doctor of humanities. An exceptional man with a Renaissance biography,” wrote Museum.
The news about Perepczka’s death was also shared by photographer Łukasz Głowala. “Today my favorite neighbor passed away,” he wrote. In his memoir, he described how he once tried to take a photo of Perepeczka with all his books. “Mr. Andrzej really wanted us to take a photo with all the books he wrote. There’s maybe a third of it in this photo because we haven’t arranged them all yet. He wrote so many of them that I had to take a break while carrying them so as not to get a hernia,” he wrote. “Reading portals list over 90 titles. However, I have the impression that they are uninformed. When we arranged the piles of books, it turned out that some titles had wandered somewhere, and several of them on the secondary market fetch such prices that the author cannot afford them. ” – added.

Andrzej Perepeczko – who was he?
Perepeczko was born in 1930 in Lviv. He graduated from the National Maritime School and the Gdańsk University of Technology. In 1960, he made his debut as a writer with the brochure “Korsarskie raldy”, which was part of the “Marine Miniatures” series, published by Wydawnictwo Morskie. He was also the author of hundreds of other publications, including: academic textbooks, historical reportages, books for children and teenagers, including a series of adventure novels entitled “Wild Ant”.
