It’s bad, but it could be worse. Another heatwave is heading to Greece this year. It is possible that in many places in the east of the country the temperature will reach 45 degrees Celsius. High temperatures increase the risk of fires. In Crete, which has so far managed to be protected from them, the fifth – extreme fire risk level – has entered into force.

Greece has been ravaged by wildfires for days. The situation is not improved by the weather – the country has been regularly hit by heat waves since July 12. Greece’s National Meteorological Service has bad news – on Wednesday heat will enter the country again, and in the eastern regions, thermometers can show 45 degrees Celsius.

Greek meteorologists inform that on Tuesday, July 25, temperatures in the interior of the country will oscillate between 40-42 degrees C. In the Ionian Islands, islands in the eastern Aegean Sea and southern Crete, thermometers will show 39-41 degrees C. On Wednesday, July 26, it will be even more serious. In the east of the country, the temperature can reach as high as 45 degrees Celsius. Only on Thursday the situation is expected to improve slightly. According to forecasters, the temperature across the country will drop, but to 35-37 degrees Celsius.

“We are at war”
