IMGW warns of scorching heat. Almost the entire country has first and second degree heat warnings, which will last in some places until Thursday.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first and second degree meteorological warnings.

IMWM warnings of the second degree – heat

Second degree warnings were issued for the following provinces:

  • West Pomeranianwith the exception of the following counties: Kamień County, SwinoujscieGryfice, Kołobrzeg, Sławno;
  • Pomeranianoutside the northern counties;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship;
  • Greater Poland;
  • lubuskie;
  • Lower Silesiaoutside the southern counties;
  • Opole;
  • Silesianfor the south-western counties.

The maximum temperature during the day will be from 30 to 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature at night will reach from 18 to 20 degrees Celsius.

The warnings will be valid from 12pm on Tuesday until 7pm on Thursday.

First degree IMWM warnings – heat

A large part of the country is under first-degree warnings. These include the following provinces:

  • Warmia-Masuriaoutside the eastern counties;
  • Masovianoutside the eastern counties;
  • Lodz;
  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Lublinwith the exception of the following poviats: Ryki, Puławy, Opole, Kraśnik, Janów;
  • Subcarpathian;
  • Lesser Polandwith the exception of the Nowy Targ and Tatra counties;
  • Silesianoutside the counties covered by higher level warnings;
  • Lower Silesiawith the exception of the following counties: Lubań, Lwówek, Karkonosze, Jelenia GoraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzych, WalbrzychKłodzko.

In these places, thermometers will show 30 to 32 degrees Celsius during the day, and 15 to 17 degrees Celsius at night.

The warnings will be in effect from 12pm on Tuesday until 7pm on Wednesday.

What is the second degree IMWM meteorological warning?

Second degree warning predicts the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena causing large material losses and a threat to health and life. Great caution is recommended, the need to track messages and the development of the weather situation. Follow all recommendations issued by the rescue services in the event of a threat.
