Antony Blinken flies to China. He discussed relations with Beijing with the head of Korean diplomacy


US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will begin his visit to China on Sunday. On Saturday, Blinken and Park Jin, South Korea’s foreign minister, discussed relations with Beijing.

As reported by the South Korean ministry, Blinken said that United States support the efforts of South Korea, which wants to build a “healthy and mature” relationship with China.

The ministers discussed bilateral relations between the US and South KoreaSouth Korea-China relations, as well as matters related to North Korea.

Blinken and Park strongly condemned Pyongyang’s repeated provocations. They also agreed that the US, South Korea and Japan should continue their constructive work in the Security Council UN on denuclearization.

Blinken flies to Beijing

Blinken will fly to Beijing on Sunday. This will be the first visit of a US Secretary of State to China in five years. American officials – writes Reuters – do not expect a breakthrough in US-China relations from this visit.

Blinken said on Friday that his trip is aimed at “open and empowered” communication.
