Road pirates were noticed by policemen patrolling the provincial road No. 948 on the Oświęcim-Kęty route (Małopolskie Voivodeship). The drivers ran into Piastowska Street in Łęki. “They did not pay attention to the regulations, the night time and the rain,” the police said in a statement.

– The police noticed two cars traveling at high speed. When they measured their speed, it turned out that both the driver of the Fiat and the Volkswagen driver trying to overtake him were driving at a speed of 134 kilometers per hour, informs Asp. pcs. The patrol stopped both cars. The Volkswagen was driven by a 23-year-old resident of the Kęty commune, while the Fiat was driven by a 24-year-old resident of the Oświęcim commune.

– In conversation with the men, the police determined that the rivalry began when the driver of the Fiat overtook the Volkswagen. Then the driver of the latter decided to show the power of his engine, so he started to overtake the Fiat – the policewoman reports.

Both drivers received fines of PLN 2.5 thousand and 15 penalty points each. They also lost their driving licenses for at least three months.
