“Any person can be found. It's just a matter of strength and resources.” This is how police shadow hunters work

However, the shadow hunters detained Adrian P., who was wanted on three arrest warrants. He had 35 kilograms of drugs on him. The list of those recently detained by the shadow hunters is longer.

It seemed to him that he was safe, that he could sleep peacefully. – He completely changed his appearance. He changed his habits, broke off contacts with his loved ones – says an operational officer from the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police.

But that wasn't enough to keep him out of the hands of a special group of police investigators.

– Shadowhunters from the Central Bureau of Investigation's pursuit operations department do not have holidays. We work 24 hours a day, seven days a week – says Deputy Commissioner Krzysztof Wrześniowski from the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police.

In recent days, police officers from a special department of the Central Bureau of Investigation have detained four wanted fugitives. Adrian P. was in hiding the longest, four years.

– He was very surprised, but later, during further activities, preparing documentation, he said that he felt a slight sense of relief because he no longer had to look back – says the operations officer.

Who are the special pursuit departments looking for?

He didn't change his profession. Drugs were found in his hideout, which he continued to sell because he needed money more than ever.

– The financial resources allow them to obtain false documents and rent apartments on so-called front pages, which wanted persons often do – explains the operations officer.

The wanted list of special pursuit departments includes primarily murderers, drug dealers and gang members. They are very determined and try various ways to hide. The Opole search department arrested a man who changed his hiding place every few days.

– He was hiding in several dozen locations in three voivodeships – says Deputy Commissioner Dariusz Świątczak from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Opole.

He was caught because the police had chosen a guesthouse where he could stay for a few days and were waiting for him there.

Criminals often hide abroad. But they also get caught there. A complicated international operation was carried out by Poznań police bounty hunters. They located the Pole, wanted on a warrant all over the world, in the Mediterranean Sea. He sailed a yacht, stopped at ports in many countries, but he was very careful. For a while.

– This man did not go ashore at all, until one day he did. He went shopping – says Junior Inspector Andrzej Borowiak from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Poznań.

He never returned to the yacht from shopping. He ended up in a local police cell and, as a result of extradition, to Poland. – Anyone can be found. It's just a matter of strength and resources and the time needed for this – says the operations officer.
