Area of ​​Poland – Area increased by 1,505 hectares

The area of ​​Poland in 2022 has increased by 1,505 hectares compared to the previous year, according to the Central Statistical Office. The area increased in 10 voivodeships in total. This is the effect of adjusting the borders of territorial units to the baseline of the sea.

“Compared to the previous year, the area of ​​Poland increased by 1,505 ha (from 31,270,525 ha to 31,272,030 ha), of which 1,204 ha is in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The second significant increase in the area was recorded in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship (+271 ha)” – wrote the Central Statistical Office.

The area increased in total in 10 voivodships, while in the remaining 6 voivodeships the area decreased.

Among land poviats, the area did not change only in 31 units, while in 141 it increased (the largest increase occurred in the powiats of Słupsk and Kołobrzeg and in the poviat of Braniewo in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodship: +254 ha), and in 142 units the area decreased ( the largest decrease was recorded in the Elbląg poviat in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship: -257 ha).

A similar situation took place in relation to cities with poviat rights. The area increased in 20 units (the largest increase occurred in Gdańsk +391 ha), decreased in 17 units (the largest decrease was recorded in Jaworzno -18 ha), and remained unchanged in 29 units.

Area of ​​communes

The largest increase in the area of ​​urban communes was recorded in the Pomorskie (by 483 ha) and Zachodniopomorskie (by 179 ha) voivodeships, while the largest decrease in the area occurred in the warmińsko-mazurskie (about 68 ha) and the province Lower Silesia (about 63 ha). Only in the province Łódzkie and Świętokrzyskie, the total area of ​​urban communes has not changed.

In the group of urban-rural communes, an increase in area was recorded in 12 voivodeships – the largest increase occurred in the voivodeship Mazowieckie (about 27,871 ha) and in the province. Łódź (by 24,620 ha).

The largest increase in the area of ​​rural communes occurred in the province of Pomorskie (about 664 ha) and the province warmińsko-mazurskie (347 ha). On the other hand, the largest decrease in area was recorded in the voivodeship Mazowieckie (27,833 ha) and Łódzkie (24,617 ha).

The largest increase in the area of ​​cities was recorded in two voivodeships: Śląskie (by 3,468 ha) and Mazowieckie (by 2,981 ha). A slight decrease in the area occurred in four voivodships: Dolnośląskie, Lubuskie, Podlaskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie (total -79 ha).

The largest decrease in the area for rural areas, amounting to 3,370 ha, occurred in the province of Silesian. On the other hand, a slight increase in the area was recorded in 5 voivodships, with the largest (by 759 ha) taking place in the voivodeship Pomeranian.

What are the changes?

According to the Central Statistical Office, according to information obtained from the Central Office of Geodesy and Cartography, the increase in the area of ​​​​the country is mainly the result of adjusting the borders of territorial units to the baseline of the territorial sea, resulting from the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of January 13, 2017 on the detailed course of the baseline , the external border of the territorial sea and the external border of the contiguous zone of the Republic of Poland.
