In the category “Television and video formats” Arkadiusz Wierzuk was awarded for his report “The German dilemma”. The TVN24 journalist received the statuette from Cornelius Ochmann, director of the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation.

“The jury appreciated this work for its pace and rhythm, which, despite a difficult topic, keep the viewer’s attention. Photos, interlocutors, questions, construction and editing – all this makes up a complete work that achieves its goal – it provokes and forces discussion” – she emphasized in the laudation judge Alicja Rucińska.

Wierzuk: an award for free and independent journalism

Arkadiusz Wierzuk, receiving the award from Cornelius Ochmann, thanked TVN24 viewers. – It is for them that I create these reports, and it is the viewers’ right to know – he stressed.

– This is an award for free and independent journalism that can ask difficult questions – said Arkadiusz Wierzuk after receiving the award. The TVN24 journalist explained that in his report he asked about Germany’s involvement in war in Ukraine during Russian aggression.

– In this report I showed the diversity of these voices. The farther I went from the German border, the less interest in the war became, he admitted. “The closer I got to the border, the closer I got to the war, the more people talked about it,” he added.

Arkadiusz Wierzuk expressed his satisfaction that “the work of independent journalism has been noticed, which is also able to look at politicians in power not only in Poland.”
