The Minister of National Defense, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz decided to continue Operation Feniks until the end of April 2025. Initially, it was planned that the army's assistance in the areas affected by the September flood would last until the end of 2024.
“Operation Phoenixi.e. the protection and reconstruction of post-flood areas in southern Poland will be extended. It will not end at the end of December. It will last until the end of April next year. I decided to continue it because help and support are still needed. The army will not leave anyone in need,” Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on Saturday on the X website.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense also said that currently approx. 4,000 soldiers help in areas devastated by the September flood.

Three goals
Operation Fenix began on September 23 this year.
It has three goals: assistance in rebuilding infrastructure in post-flood areas, including: roads, bridges, railways and power lines; strengthening existing flood protection systems and supporting the civilian population.
