The use of artificial intelligence solutions in the Polish economy can bring benefits equivalent to the work of 4.9 million people, generating additional production value of ninety billion dollars annually – indicated in the report prepared by EY and Liberty Global.

The study “Wired for AI” shows that artificial intelligence can be used in many professions, not only those directly related to advanced technologies, and can increase work efficiency in almost half (49%) of positions. EY and Liberty Global experts noted that in practice, this percentage will be lower and will reach 32 percent, because only so many job positions in Poland have access to well-functioning networks and appropriate technologies.

Actions are needed in the field of employee education and training

The use of AI solutions in the Polish economy may bring benefits equivalent to the work of 4.9 million employees, generating additional production value of USD 90 billion per year – estimate the authors of the report. – As you can see, the potential is great, but to fully exploit the benefits of AI, strategic actions in the field of employee education and training, as well as investments in digital technologies and networks are necessary. Much depends on an appropriately shaped economic policy, said Dorota Gardoń from the Katowice-based BPSC company. According to experts, improving employee qualifications will maximize the economic benefits of the use of artificial intelligence, while minimizing the threats to the labor market potentially posed by automation. Specialists reassure us that AI will not replace nearly 5 million people, i.e. almost one third of the workforce, but will only bring millions of additional workers to the economy.

The need to acquire new qualifications

Artificial intelligence will take over various time-consuming tasks, allowing employees to focus on more complex projects. Thanks to this, human work will be more efficient, which, according to EY, will translate into an increase in the value of production. – Undoubtedly, the labor market will have to adapt to the new realities. Some professions may become less necessary, while others, especially those related to information technology and data management, will become more important. Education and training will be key to ensure that AI does not constitute competition for employees, but effective assistance, added Dorota Gardoń. IT experts believe that the greatest beneficiaries of the popularization of artificial intelligence will be people starting their professional careers and high-class specialists. In turn, employees holding positions where automation is easy to apply will have to acquire new qualifications. – It is worth investing now in broadly understood digital competences, including the ability to precisely write so-called prompts (instructions – ed.) for AI, which is increasingly sought after on the labor market – advises Ewa Zborowska from the consulting company IDC.
