That night and on Friday morning, the weather is expected to cause significant disruptions on roads and sidewalks. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns against icing and freezing precipitation. First degree warnings were issued in almost all voivodeships.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.

IMWM warnings – icing

First degree warnings against icing apply to the following voivodeships:

  • Łódź;
  • Masovian Voivodeshippoviats: Grójec, Kozienice, Białobrzeski, Przysucha, RadomRadom, Szydłowiec, Lipsk, Zwoleń, Ostrowski, Wyszków, Ostrołęka, OstrołękaMakowskiego, Przasnyski;
  • Świętokrzyskie;
  • Opole Provincein Olesno County;
  • Lublin Provincein the southern part of the region;
  • Lesser Polandoutside the Tatra and Nowy Targ counties;
  • Podkarpackieoutside Lesko and Bieszczady counties;
  • Silesianoutside Żywiec and Cieszyn counties;
  • Pomeranian;
  • Podlasiein the following counties: Zambrowski, Łomża, Łomża, Kolno, Moniecki and Grajewo;
  • Greater Polandin Piła and Złotów counties;
  • West Pomeranian Voivodeshipin the following counties: Wałecki, Drawsko, Łobez, Świdwiński, Szczecinecki, Sławno, Koszalin and Koszalin;
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

As predicted IMWMit is forecast that the wet surface of roads and sidewalks will freeze locally after light drizzle, sleet and wet snow, causing them to become icy.

The alerts will expire at 9 a.m. on Friday.

IMWM warnings – freezing precipitation

In addition, there are also warnings against freezing precipitation in the following voivodeships:

  • Lubuskie;
  • Lower Silesiain counties bordering the province. Greater Poland;
  • Opole province in Namysłów and Kluczbork counties;
  • Greater Polandin all poviats except Piła and Złotów.

IMWM informs that light freezing rain or drizzle causing black ice is forecast in places.

The alarms will be in force from 11 p.m. on Thursday until 9 a.m. on Friday.
