Auschwitz. An intoxicated 19-year-old without a license was driving a car. Another driver alerted the police

The 19-year-old will answer in court after she drove a car through the streets of Oświęcim (Małopolskie Voivodeship) under the influence of alcohol and without permission. Another driver spotted the car going zigzag and alerted the police. After the arrest, it turned out that the driver had more than half the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

On the night from Saturday to Sunday (April 8-9), one of the drivers in Oświęcim noticed an Audi zigzagging. The witness was concerned about the driving style of the driver, so he informed the police about the matter.

Behind the wheel an intoxicated teenager without a driving license

According to the reporting officer, the driver of the Audi was probably drunk. Policemen went to the place and stopped the Audi for road control on Pod Krukami Street.

– As it turned out, behind the wheel was a 19-year-old girl from Oświęcim who did not have a driving license. Her sobriety test showed 0.54 per mille of alcohol, said Staff Officer Małgorzata Jurecka, press officer of the Oświęcim police, in a message.

The 19-year-old was arrested and taken to the police station. Now, driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated is punishable by up to two years in prison, a ban on driving a motor vehicle for at least three years and a fine of up to PLN 60,000.

The teenager will also be charged with driving without a license. This is punishable by a heavy fine.

– Thanks for the correct reaction are due to the driver who reported his observation to the operator of the emergency number 112. In this way, he showed concern for the safety of other road users – noted Jurecka.
