Policemen from Oświęcim (Małopolska) received an anonymous report about a drunk woman staying in one of the apartments with two small children. The 26-year-old was detained. She is suspected of exposing children to direct risk of loss of health or life. It is punishable by up to five years in prison. The siblings were transferred to the care of one of the orphanages.

Information about children in danger was received by Oświęcim policemen late on Tuesday evening, it was passed on by an anonymous reporting person. A patrol was sent to the address indicated.

– In the apartment, the policemen found an intoxicated 26-year-old girl, a three-year-old son and a five-month-old daughter. The maternal sobriety test revealed 1.7 per mille of alcohol. The apartment was in disorder. There were things scattered around it, including empty bottles and cans of alcohol, said a spokeswoman for the Auschwitz police. pc. Małgorzata Jurecka.

According to policemen, in this situation the health and life of children could be endangered. They notified the judge from the family division and minors from the district court in Oświęcim. – By the judge’s decision, the children were taken from their mother and entrusted to the care of employees of one of the orphanages – said Małgorzata Jurecka.

Proceedings were initiated against the mother. She is suspected of exposing the health or life of children to whom she was under a duty to care for immediate danger. It is punishable by up to five years in prison. – The policemen will also submit a request to the municipal commission for solving alcohol-related problems. The neglect she committed may be evidence of her alcohol addiction, she said.

Małgorzata Jurecka said that in cases of child abuse or neglect, you should react as quickly as possible. – It is enough to contact a social worker, teacher, educator, probation officer and district probation officer. In urgent cases, you should intervene immediately by calling the emergency number 112 – she emphasized.
