Australian meteorological services carefully follow the development and path of three cyclones that formed in the Pacific Ocean on the eastern side of the country. The greatest threat is posed by an element named Alfred, which carries the wind with gusts of 185 kilometers per hour.
The Rae, Seru and Alfred cyclones have been created in the last five days in the southern part of the Pacific and still spin around the east coast of Australia. Experts emphasize that currently in the Pacific Ocean, the cyclone season is reaching its peak.
– It is certainly a very intense time in the south of the Pacific. Three cyclones are a lot at the same time – said atmosphere professor Brian Tang from the American University at Albany. He added that the last time such a situation took place in January 2021.
All eyes to Alfred
A cyclone named Alfred raises the greatest fears among meteorologists and residents of the state of Queensland in north-eastern Australia. It is closest to the coast in the coral sea and now its strength corresponds to storm fourth category. This means that the element carries a wind with gusts exceeding the speed of 185 km/h. It is still unknown if Alfred will finally reach land.
“There is a risk that next week it can get closer to the southern coast of Queensland,” the Australian Meteorological Office wrote in the latest announcement.
Rae formed last Friday around the northern regions of Fija and brought strong gusts of wind and downpour there. According to local media, the element's impact led to destruction fruit trees. In turn, Seru was created on Tuesday and will probably pass near Vanuatu.
