Australian police are looking for a four-year-old girl who went missing over the weekend in a secluded campsite. Officers said they would “move heaven and earth” to find Cleo Smith.

Four-year-old Cleo Smith was last seen in her family’s tent around 1.30am on Saturday at the remote Blowholes Shacks campsite in Macleod, about 900km north of Perth. Police reported that when her parents woke up at 6.30 am, the girl was gone.

The search for Cleo Smith is ongoing

Police began an extensive search, and additional forensics personnel arrived from Perth on Monday. In addition, the military and members of the local community also take part in the action.

“We are still focused on identifying any leads, with the best investigators and best trackers on it,” said Inspector Jon Munday, Assistant District Officer for the Mid West-Gascoyne region. “We will move heaven and earth,” he added. “Every hour of a four-year-old in this environment is very, very disturbing,” he added. “That’s why we just have serious concerns,” he admitted.

There was no sleeping bag in the tent

Police gave little information about the investigation and did not say what they thought happened to the girl, but released a photo of the sleeping bag, which was also missing from the tent, to the public.
