In the suburbs of Sydney, a large hole was created in the road near a cliff, causing a landslide. The incident, which terrified local residents, was preceded by heavy rain.

A road in Sydney's eastern suburb of Dover Heights was cordoned off by emergency services overnight after a landslide caused by heavy rainfall damaged a cliff-top street. A 10-meter hole was created in the ground. There are houses nearby. No one was injured. Debris from the landslide littered the cliffside.

Like a bomb exploding

Colin Scotts, who lives nearby, described the incident to local media. His house shook and the force of the phenomenon was “absolutely terrifying.”

– It was like a bomb explosion, like thunder, and unfortunately most of the water fell on us below. But the house was shaking. We're glad we're all safe, Scotts said.
