Australian Terence Darrell Kelly confessed to abducting four-year-old Cleo Smith and keeping her at his home for 18 days. The girl disappeared from her family’s tent in October last year.
Four years old Cleo Smith is missing in mid-October last year in Macleod, about 900 kilometers north of Perth c Australia. After 18 days, Australian police confirmed that the girl stayed found in one of the houses in Carnarvon. Cleo was in good condition and returned to her parents.
In connection with the kidnapping, the officers detained the man on the day the girl was found.
He kidnapped Cleo, pleaded guilty
On Monday, Australian 36-year-old Terence Darrell Kelly pleaded guilty to a judge to abduct a four-year-old and keep her at his home for 18 days. A man will stand before Perth County Court in March. The BBC cited Australian media report that the admission to Kelly was a surprise. The process was expected to be long.
The 36-year-old has been in custody in Perth since November 5. He was there two days after the police entered his locked house, where they found Cleo.
The disappearance of Cleo Smith
Cleo Smith was missing on October 16, 2021. She was last seen in her family’s tent around 1.30 am at Blowholes Shacks campsite. When her parents woke up at 6am, the tent was open. There was no girl and her sleeping bag.
The police searched for the child in an extensive operation. Additional forensics personnel from Perth arrived at the scene. In addition, the army and local residents took part in the action.
