The 50-year-old Patterson pleaded not guilty, and her defenders claim that the woman “fell into a panic” after unintentional serving of poisonous mushrooms to family members she loved.

As a result of this event, three people died, including her in-laws of 70-year-old Don and Gail Patterson, as well as sister 66-year-old Heather Wilkinson. The local pastor Ian Wilkinson survived after weeks of treatment in the hospital.

The man did not take part in lunch, the Erin plate “differed from the others”

The jury saw the text messages mentioned between Simon and Erin the day before the deadly lunch. The man said on Thursday in court that he felt “too uncomfortable” to think of participating in lunch. He also stated that “very rarely” she had organized social gatherings at home.

Erin Patterson replied to come to lunch: “It's really disappointing. I spent many hours this week, preparing lunch for tomorrow … It's important for me that you all come tomorrow and that we can have conversations that I have to conduct with you.”

The prosecutors say Patterson invited a group to lunch to inform them of detecting cancer.

Simon testified that he talked to his father the next morning after lunch and learned that both his parents did not sleep all night due to vomiting and diarrhea. They called an ambulance. During the conversation with Heather Wilkinson, he learned that “Erin applied food on a colorful plate that differed from the others.”

Marriage problems
