Coca-Cola is withdrawing 28 million bottles of its carbonated drinks from stores in Austria. The reason is the possible content of metal fragments in some of them. “We do not recommend consuming potentially affected products due to possible health risks,” the statement emphasized.

Coca-Cola announced on Wednesday that it was withdrawing from stores as a precaution Austria all its carbonated drinks – Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite and Mezzomix – with a capacity of 0.5 liters with an expiry date between February 4 and April 12, 2025.

The reason for this decision is the risk that a “very limited number” of bottles of the mentioned drinks “may contain small amounts of metal due to a technical error in the production process.” “We do not recommend consuming potentially affected products due to possible health risks,” the statement emphasized.

Customers can return purchased products and receive a refund without the need for a receipt. The company emphasized that the problem does not apply to drinks in bottles of a different capacity than indicated or to other brands of its products. She noted that she is cooperating with the Austrian authorities in this matter.

At the same time, probably not all of the products in this batch have made it to stores and, according to the company, they may still be in warehouses. Vienna Market Authority spokesman Alexander Hengl said that several dozen officials are already checking whether the endangered products have been removed from store shelves.

According to “Deutsche Welle”, this is the first time in at least 25 years that a company has withdrawn products on such a large scale.
