One person died and 21 were injured as a result of a fire that broke out on Monday night during a New Year’s Eve party in Graz, Austria. 18 people were taken to hospital. The cause of the fire is unknown.
According to the Austrian police, around 4 a.m. on Monday, a fire broke out in a bar in Graz during a New Year’s Eve party. According to the services, the fire started at the entrance to the premises and then spread to furniture and decorations. The bar also filled with smoke, causing panic to break out.
A young woman died, her identity is unknown. 21 people were injured. 18 people were taken to hospital, three of them are in the intensive care unit – said a spokesman for the local police, quoted by the APA agency. As the website of the Austrian daily “Kleine Zeitung” writes, two people with third-degree burns are in the intensive care unit.
The interior of the premises burned down. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Investigators ruled out a technical fault.
