In northern Austria, a manhunt is underway for a man suspected of shooting two people in the town of Altenfelden. One of the victims is the mayor of a nearby town. The alleged perpetrator drives a car, is armed and dangerous, the police warned.
On Monday morning in Altenfelden, the police found the bodies of two men who lost their lives as a result of gunshot wounds. One of them turned out to be the mayor of the nearby town of Kirchberg ob der Donau.
Heavily armed officers and armored vehicles take part in the manhunt for the killer. The police published a photo of the wanted 56-year-old man on the Internet and appealed to residents not to try to contact him if they meet him, but to immediately report the matter to the police.
According to unofficial information, the shooting could have been the result of a dispute over the allocation of hunting rights. Both victims were hunters, and one of them was also the chairman of a local hunting club.
Due to the ongoing search operation, the police refuses to provide detailed information or comment on the incident.
