Roman Jasik has been working at a school in Graz, Austria for 15 years, where a shootout took place on Tuesday. He knew the attacker who during the attack fatally shot 10 people, including himself. Mr. Roman tells Małgorzata Marczok from TVN24 about the course of this tragic day.
At school in Graz, in the south AustriaRoman Jasik has been working for 15 years. As he says, he is a janitor or a “manager from everything”. On Tuesday, when the shooting took place, Mr. Roman was at work. At the time when the attacker opened the fire, he was not in the school building itself. He left him only a few minutes earlier. He left because he was asked by the director to buy flowers. As he admits, if he stayed, “it would be bad”.

“I think we wouldn't talk today,” says Marczok Mr. Roman. – I am the first (employee – ed.) Who goes and controls everything that happens (at school). I was lucky from God – he adds. The janitor admits that, although he had heard more than once about weapons in the United States or other countries, he never thought that one of them could occur in graz. – We never imagined that it would happen at school – he emphasizes.

About the fact that the shooting was fulfilled at school, Mr. Roman found out from another employee of the institution. – a colleague called, he said that there is a weapon attack at school. I came back, but naturally I didn't get to school anymore, because everything was placed in the police – he recalls. Roman Jasik started working with the police. As he says, at school “he knows every corner”, so he suggested to the services “where, what and how”.
Mr. Roman admits that he also knew the attacker. He – as he says – attended the facility for three years. He repeated the class and ultimately did not graduate from school. – He was lonely and isolated by students – says Mr. Roman.
