Automotive. Cars imported to Poland are mostly damaged

Poland is one of the markets that receives the vast majority of used, previously damaged vehicles. In the case of cars from the US, this figure is as high as 95%. Over 89% of cars imported from Germany, where over half of the second-hand cars entering Poland come from, have a post-accident history.

“Over 95 percent of used cars imported to Poland from the US in 2024 have been in an accident or collision,” writes “Rzeczpospolita,” citing data from carVertical, a company that provides information on the history of vehicles.

The newspaper points out that among the five most important foreign markets for private Polish importers, cars from the American market turn out to be the riskiest.

“In the period from January to August 2024, as many as 95 out of 100 cars imported to Poland from the American market have notes about some damage in the past,” says Matas Buzelis, an automotive expert at carVertical, quoted by “Rz”.

As “Rzeczpospolita” writes, a slightly smaller percentage of damaged cars, almost 93%, is found in cars towed from Belgiumthe third largest source of supplies for car dealerships and online services. The article states that over 89 percent of cars imported from Germanwhere more than half of the second-hand cars entering Poland come from.

“Poland is one of the European markets where the vast majority of damaged cars end up,” emphasizes Marcel Rotzoll from Carfax Europe in an interview with “Rz”.
