Quoted by the Liu Jingyu newspaper from the management of Calb, he explained that the undertaking that serves a “long -term plan of activities on the European market” will lead to launching at least 1,800 jobs in Portugal.

The full production capacity, as Liu Jingyu explained, the plant in Sines is to achieve in 2028. This plant will produce 187,000 annually. battery for electric cars. Ultimately, batteries for other applications are to be created at the Portuguese factory.

According to the investor's plans, the plant will start in the northern part of Sines in an area of ​​90 hectares.

Key location of the Sines port

Portuguese commentators note that the Chinese factory will operate in the close proximity of the Sines port, the front sea port on the Iberian Peninsula. In 2024 he received a record amount of loads in containers, estimated at nearly 2 million TEU, i.e. by 16 percent. More compared to 2023.

For several years, the port of Sines has been gaining importance in global transport and energy, including in connection with war in Ukraine and investments carried out in the areas adjacent to this facility.
