Awards from the Ministry of Health. Katarzyna Sójka allocated PLN 320,000 for six people

PLN 320,000 in prizes for six people was distributed by former Minister of Health Katarzyna Sójka at the end of her term – reported “Gazeta Wyborcza”.

As “Gazeta Wyborcza” writes: Ministry of Health a tradition “cultivated by many ministers” is to award awards in the last hours of office. Katarzyna Sójka’s predecessor did the same Adam Niedzielski. Niedzielski’s awards cost PLN 100,000 – 10 people received an average of PLN 10,000 each.

Katarzyna Sójka awarded much higher prizes – six people received a total of PLN 320,000. The information was confirmed to “Wyborcza” by the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Health, Iwona Kania.

The winners are: dr hab. Hubert Krzysztofiak, director of the Central Sports Medicine Center in Warsaw; prof. Henryk Skarżyński, director of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing; prof. Stefan Wesołowskidirector of the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases; Filip Nowakpresident National Health Fund; prof. Jan Walewski, director of the National Institute of Oncology; and Radosław Sierpińskipresident of the Medical Research Agency.

The average prizes awarded were PLN 53,633.

“At the same time, it should be noted that all awards were annual awards, the award of which is regulated by Article 10 of the Act of March 3, 2000 on the remuneration of persons managing certain legal entities. Each time the award of an annual award was preceded by an assessment of the fulfillment and implementation of formal and legal criteria specified in paragraph 3 of the Regulation of the Minister of Health of June 29, 2005 on detailed rules and procedures for granting the annual award,” the spokeswoman noted.

“Wyborcza”: he received the highest award, but he wanted more

According to “Wyborcza”, the highest prize – PLN 80,000 – went to Radosław Sierpiński, head of the Medical Research Agency.

However, the daily writes that “the decision to grant it hung by a thread” when Sierpiński wanted to receive a higher amount. This was intended to upset Ewa Krajewska, the new Minister of Health in the two-week government Mateusz Morawieckiand called Sierpiński “on the carpet.”

“Krajewska, however, does not govern the Ministry of Health independently. According to informants, she is ‘watched over’ by, just as Sójka was ‘watched’ earlier, by Deputy Minister Marcin Martyniak, who came to the ministry in April last year from the Prime Minister’s office.
