A 28-year-old detained by the police while fishing by the reservoir in the municipality of Baćkowice (Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship) is facing up to three years in prison. Officers found methamphetamine and marijuana on him. The man was charged and placed under police surveillance.

Police officers from Opatów checked a man staying in the area of ​​one of the water reservoirs in the Baćkowice commune on Friday night. A resident of the Ostrowiec district, in an interview with the officers, claimed that he had come for night fishing.

The fisherman had marijuana and methamphetamine on him

This explanation did not put the policemen’s vigilance to rest, if only because fishing was prohibited in the nearby reservoir. In addition, with the 28-year-old, officers found five grams of dried material, which was identified as marijuana and 15 grams of a white substance, which turned out to be amphetamine. The man was detained and the drugs secured, informed the junior aspirant Katarzyna Czesna-Wójcik from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Opatów.

The 28-year-old was charged with possession of drugs, which is punishable by up to three years in prison. The District Prosecutor in Opatów applied preventive measures against the suspect in the form of a property surety and police supervision.
