The 51-year-old from Wyry (Silesian Voivodeship) has been hiding from the police outside Poland for 20 years. The man was suspected of a number of frauds, as a result of which the company employing him was to lose over PLN 100,000. He was detained at the airport in Balice near Krakow.
The man had been wanted on a warrant since 2003 in connection with a series of frauds he allegedly committed in the Mikołów district. According to the police, 20 years ago the case “was suspended due to the fact that a resident of Wyr went abroad”.
“As a then representative of a loan company, in 2003 he concluded contracts with 37 clients for the amount declared by them, but additionally gave them to sign further contracts, and appropriated the money from the loans granted on this basis,” the Silesian police said in a statement.
He flew in from Italy, they stopped him at the airport
In June, a man flew from Italian to the airport in Balice near Krakow. There he was detained and then temporarily arrested. As the police now inform, he was charged with fraud in the District Prosecutor’s Office in Mikołów for a total amount of almost PLN 111,000. He faces up to eight years in prison.
