Balloons with smuggled cigarettes fell in Podlasie. Another one found

In the Korycin commune in Podlasie, a balloon resembling a meteorological device fell to the ground. The police do not say whether or not the cargo contained anything. Earlier, balloons used for cigarette smuggling were found in the same province.

The balloon was spotted on Saturday in agricultural areas of the Korycin commune. The police were called to the scene.

Konrad Karwacki from the press team of the BiaÅ‚ystok Police Headquarters said that “usually loads of cigarettes are attached to such balloons”, but it is not yet certain that the object found in Korycin was used for that purpose.

Two similar balloons carrying excise-free cigarettes were found on Friday. – Just after 4 a.m., a resident of Kolno called 112 informing that a balloon with a parcel was hanging on the viaduct near Stawiski. The man pulled the package, causing the balloon to burst, and then brought the find to the police headquarters in Kolno, reported Staff Sergeant Ewa ZabÅ‚ocka, press officer of the District Police Commander in Kolno.

According to the police, the package contained cigarettes without Polish excise stamps. Exactly 30,000 pieces, i.e. 1,500 packages.

The spokesman of the Provincial Police Headquarters said that on the same day, around 6 a.m., the police received a report about a balloon with a parcel that landed in Szaciłówka in the Korycin commune. – There were cigarettes in the balloon – the police said.
