Windmills enter the Baltic Sea: Wind farm Baltic Power will power one and a half million households. Electricity production is scheduled to start next year. Piotr Ostrowski, deputy director of the project, reminds that works on land started in 2023. This is the most advanced Polish offshore project.
Offshore wind turbines: – The first stage of installation works at sea in the area of the farm itself is installation of foundations for offshore wind turbines and two marine power stations. In total, there will be 76 wind turbines and two stations, which gives 78 foundations that need to be installed,” explained Piotr Ostrowski.
Baltic Sea with potential: According to the deputy director of the project, the Baltic Sea has very good potential for the development of offshore wind energy. It will be the first offshore wind farm built using low-emission steel produced almost exclusively from recycled raw material in metallurgical furnaces powered by renewable energy.
23 kilometers from the shore: The offshore wind farm will be located approximately 23 km from the coastline, near Choczew and Łeba. The farm area is approx. 130 kilometers square, on which “76 wind turbines will be located, each power generation capacity of 15 MW,” Baltic Power states on its website.
