Poland is losing its reputation as a transit country, said Paweł Kowal, KO MP, commenting on the government’s decision to block the import of agri-food products from Ukraine in “Fakty po Faktach”. He assessed that something “absolutely contrary to the Polish raison d’état” was done. Non-associated senator Jan Maria Jackowski stated that this decision “means terrible image and political losses for Poland”.

On Saturday, the government adopted an ordinance banning imports of Ukraine agri-food products. The long list of products includes cereals, milk, eggs and meat. They also took a similar step Hungary. European Commission spokeswoman Miriam Garcia Ferrer commented that “trade policy is the exclusive competence of the EUand therefore unilateral actions are unacceptable.

According to Kowal, “the consequences are that Poland loses its reputation as a transit country.” He assessed that it may be necessary to transport various products from Ukraine in transit in the coming years. – Polish national interest is obvious: to show that we are effective, we are able to carry out transport. Meanwhile, the government did the exact opposite, absolutely contrary to the Polish raison d’état. I just can’t accept it from the morning – said the MP.

He reminded that “that year Poles took part in the humanitarian uprising, the whole world admired Poles”. – Now the information will go out into the world that Poland is not able to transport grain, it ordered a trade blockade of Ukraine during the war. They simply waste everything that the Poles have done for a year – he commented.

Jackowski: It simply means terrible image and political losses for Poland

Senator Jackowski stated that “for almost a year we have been dealing with monstrous incompetence, indolence”. – Even MPs PiS they warned the Minister (former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Henryk – ed.) Kowalczyk, and other important politicians from Law and Justice, that there would be a problem with this grain. This has been the talk since June, July last year – he pointed out.

In his opinion, the government’s decision “simply means terrible image and political losses for Poland.” – Secondly, we have a row with the European Union, thirdly, it does not fully solve the problem we have with grain, fourthly (…), probably grain contaminated with pesticides and other substances has been placed on the food market – he enumerated.
