The clients of two banks: Pekao and mBank were targeted by fraudsters. Cyber criminals have prepared fake websites that are used to obtain login details. This may lead to the loss of money from your accounts – warns the cybersecurity team at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF CSIRT).
Bank Pekao – fake website
“We warn against a fake website pretending to be Bank Pekao SA. Fraudsters intercept the login details entered on it, which may lead to the theft of funds” – experts from the Polish Financial Supervision Authority CSIRT wrote on Twitter.
They added that “the address of the bogus site: pekaopl[.]com looks confusingly similar to the real one “and appealed to the bank’s customers:” be careful! “.
Bank Pekao referred to the warning on Twitter. “Before logging into Pekao websites, make sure you are on a secure page!” the bank warned. He also stressed that in the case of this scam, “the website URL, the home page, and the login page are wrong”.
mBank – fake website
The CSIRT also announced that “cybercriminals have prepared a fake website claiming to be mBank”.
“Don’t be fooled! Fraudsters will see your password as soon as you enter it on the provided page. Address of the dangerous website: hxxps: //pl.mbank24.eu[.]online “- they wrote on Twitter.
Warnings against fraudsters
Fraudsters continue their activities. In September, there were warnings against With false text messages about being sent to quarantine. We have received numerous signals on this matter on Contact 24.
In last weeks ING Bank Śląski warned against a false website, and Bank BPS reported that cybercriminals were impersonating a bank and sending e-mails with alleged confirmation of the transfer. Earlier, Getin Bank’s clients were warned against frauds by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority CSIRT. As reported, cyber criminals prepared a fake login panel.
