London Fireplace Brigade (LFB) despatched 70 firefighters and 10 hearth engines to the scene in Battersea after the blaze was reported at 8.02pm on Tuesday.

Three folks left the affected flat on Westbridge Street earlier than the brigade arrived, LFB stated.

A girl and a baby have been taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Station Commander Peter Johnson, who was on the scene, stated: “Crews have been confronted with a variety of smoke issuing from the highest of a block of flats on arrival.

The blaze was below management by 8.53pm.

Fireplace crews from Battersea, Fulham, Wandsworth, North Kensington and surrounding hearth stations attended the incident.
