Information about the signing of the decree by the Belarusian dictator appeared on his official website.
As reported, among the people who were pardoned, there are 14 women and 16 men. They include “the seriously ill and people of retirement age.”
“All of them pleaded guilty and sincerely regretted their actions. and committed to lead a lawful life. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will ensure control over the fulfillment of these obligations on behalf of the head of state,” we read in the announcement.

“The signed act of pardon is a chance for these people rehabilitating oneself before the state and society” – added.
The first reports about the possible release of political prisoners appeared on July 2. At that time, Belarusian media reported that among the convicts who would be released were oppositionists who took part in the protests in 2020.

Mass demonstrations broke out in many cities in Belarus at that time. The largest demonstrations took place in Minsk, Brest, Mogilev and Novopolotsk. According to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs more than 5,000 people were arrested then.
