As reported by the Belarusian press agency Belta, Lukashenko emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff. – We have a minister of defense to whom everyone in the ministry reports, he said.

During his speech, Lukashenko also clearly announced that he “does not tolerate lies” and there is no point in hiding the truth because it will always come to light. – In Belarus, it is impossible to embellish the situation. Therefore, let us strive to develop the Armed Forces as we have done so far, he said.

There was also a reference to war in Ukraine. According to the leader of Belarus, this is an “important lesson” for his country, and based on the example of the ongoing full-scale invasion in a neighboring country they should see “what modern war looks like”.

Changes in the Belarusian army. Murawiejko “focuses on the ultimate goal”

Secretary of the Security Council Aleksander Wolfowicz, who presented Murawiejko's candidacy, said that he has knowledge, experience and, like Defense Minister Wiktor Krenin, “focuses on the ultimate goal”.

And the Chief of the General Staff is an independent person, he added, emphasizing that if the situation “escalates”, the general is the president's right hand.

In the past, Paweł Murawiejko participated in the development of documents regarding the state defense plan and in the preparation and conduct of major exercises, including joint ones with the Russian Federation, BelTA reported.
