Belarusian oppositionist Andrei Dzmitryjeu, one of Alyaksandr Lukashenko’s counter-candidates in the rigged 2020 presidential election, was detained by security forces on Wednesday, the independent Mediazona portal reported on Thursday.

Andrei Dzmitryjeu was the leader of the political movement “Tell the Truth”, which was banned in 2021 by a Belarusian court.

In the 2020 elections, which are widely believed to be rigged, he won 1.2% of the vote, according to data provided by the Lukashenko regime. votes.
