The Iraqi ambassador to Russia and Belarus announced the evacuation of the Iraqis from Minsk. Illegal immigrants from Belarus can no longer come to Lithuania. However, the number of people passing to Latvia is growing, which is why the country has announced the strengthening of borders.

An air evacuation flight for the Iraqis is scheduled for Tuesday 10 August. “Iraqi Airways is organizing evacuation for Iraqi citizens who are stuck in Belarus,” wrote the Iraqi ambassador to Russia and Belarus on Saturday.

On Monday, after more than four thousand illegal immigrants from Belarus have been brought to Lithuania since the beginning of the year, Vilnius decided to send them back to Belarus. On Saturday, the Lithuanian border guard did not detain a single immigrant – Naviny.by informed.

Latvia and Estonia announced the strengthening of the border

In turn, the Latvian authorities informed that 38 illegal immigrants had arrived in this country by noon on Saturday. The communiqué stated that “taking into account Lithuania’s experience”, border protection will be strengthened along with the mobilization of additional forces.

The third Baltic country, Estonia, also promises to strengthen the border.

The media points out that on Saturday, after talks with the EU, Iraq decided to completely suspend flights to Belarus “for an indefinite period”. The Lithuanian authorities claim that the authorities in Minsk are responsible for the increase in the number of illegal immigrants coming from Belarus.
