The French ambassador to Minsk, Nicolas de Bouillane de Lacoste, left Belarus at the request of the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “The ambassador did not present Lukashenka’s credentials and spoke loudly about the violation of human rights,” wrote Franak Vyachorka, advisor to the leader of the democratic opposition in Belarus, Sviatlana Cichanouska, in the social media about Minsk’s decisions.
A spokesman for the French embassy in Minsk, quoted by the AFP agency, said that the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had requested that the French ambassador leave before October 18. He added that the diplomat had already left Belarus, saying goodbye to the staff of the institution.
“He spoke out loud about human rights violations”
“This is another diplomat from a member state of the European Union who was forced by the regime to leave Minsk,” commented Franak Vyachorka, international affairs advisor to the leader of the democratic opposition in Belarus Sviatlana Cichanouska, on social media.
“The Ambassador did not present Lukashenka’s credentials and spoke loudly about human rights violations. Dear Ambassador, thank you for your solidarity and faithfulness to the principles” – wrote Vyachorka.
