In the Grodno region, near the Polish-Lithuanian border, operational and tactical maneuvers of the Belarusian border forces are taking place. According to the Belarusian State Border Committee in a press release, “detection, blocking and liquidation of armed formations” will be exercised during these meetings.
“The Grodno group of border troops is conducting comprehensive operational and tactical maneuvers, which will last until August 12,” the State Border Committee of Belarus reported in a press release, quoted by the Interfax-West agency.

The maneuvers, as stated, are to take place in three stages, during which, among others, “mobilization of mobile reserve units, strengthening the protection of the state border, detection, blocking and liquidation of armed formations, stabilization of the situation”.

“The purpose of the maneuvers is to improve the combat and mobilization readiness of a group of border troops, and to increase the level of readiness of the territorial bodies of border services to command permanent and additional troops in conditions of increasing threats to border and military security” – it was announced in the release.
As reported, in order to carry out the maneuvers, conditions were created that “will bring the activities of the trained units closer to the conditions of a possible real situation”.
