The columnist Raman Jakauleuski is dead, Belarusian independent media reported, citing the journalist’s friends. A veteran of Belarusian journalism and a commentator who frequently appeared in the Polish media, he died in Minsk at the age of 68.
Raman Jakauleuski has worked with independent media in Belarus since the beginning of the 1990s. He was one of the country’s top experts in international affairs.
According to unofficial information, he died due to an infection caused by the coronavirus.
Jakauleuski “was very kind to Poland and Poles”
The Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAŻ) wrote on Saturday that “an outstanding political commentator, a man with a wonderful sense of humor, who looked at life with optimism, has passed away”.
One of the Belarusian journalists told the Polish Press Agency that Jakauleuski “was very sympathetic to Poland and Poles.”
